Chris Acosta of East Boston HS: Student-Athlete of the Month for September 2024
It is with great excitement that the MIAA announces Christopher Acosta, a senior at East Boston High School, as the Student of the Month for September 2024. Chris is a standout soccer player for the Jets while maintaining a 3.9 GPA. He was nominated by his soccer coach, Jayson Smith.
As a three-year Varsity soccer player and starter for Eastie, Chris has exemplified what it means to be a true student-athlete. His coach commented that, “His unwavering commitment to both academics and athletics sets him apart from his peers. Consistently earning top grades, Chris balances rigorous coursework while also dedicating countless hours to his soccer team. His determination is not just about personal success; he is motivated by a desire to be the first in his family to graduate from college, inspiring those around him to strive for their goals as well.”
Beyond his academic and athletic achievements, Chris is known for his strong moral compass and kind-hearted nature. He embodies sportsmanship both on and off the field, fostering a positive team environment and encouraging his teammates to give their best. With aspirations to play soccer at the collegiate level while studying graphic design, Chris is not only focused on his own future but also on making a meaningful impact in his community. His hard work, integrity, and vision for the future make him a deserving candidate for this honor.
In addition to his academic and athletic success, Chris has served as a translator at East Boston High School Open house and Parent Teacher Conferences. He also was a Team Leader at the EBHS Christmas Elves Event ; organizing a toy drive for children in the community.
