YOU are the MIAA
A Membership Driven Organization
The Association provides a platform for over 550 voluntary members to voice concerns related to interscholastic athletics by providing representative opportunities to address issues collectively, promoting open dialogue and collaboration throughout the state through its committees.
- The MIAA is comprised of 380 member schools
- Athletic leagues house the majority of member schools
- Each athletic league exists within a District Athletic Committee (DAC) that represents nine (9) geographical regions of the Commonwealth
MIAA Handbook
This Handbook provides policies and procedures that guide the Association and its school leaders. Individually and collectively, the belief is that positive educational outcomes of interscholastic athletics do not happen by chance. They happen because teacher-coaches and school administration adopt an intentional and purposeful approach to the interscholastic athletic experience.
Frequently Asked Questions

Tips for Reading the Handbook
Handbook editorial changes are part of an ongoing process to clarify the existing rule while promoting its intent.
Helpful Hint: To find a word or phrase within the Handbook, use the binoculars button on your Adobe toolbar. Throughout the 2023-25 MIAA Handbook please find links that will provide useful information related to that specific rule. You will no longer find ‘icons’ as they were either turned into titled links or the language was placed in the body of the rules. Everything in the handbook is now searchable.
