The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association is proud to announce Esther Desjardins, a senior at the Academy of the Pacific Rim (APR) in Hyde Park, as the Student of the Month for September. Esther was nominated by APR Athletic Director, Pharoah Davis.

Academic and Leadership Achievements

Esther is a dedicated and disciplined student who consistently seeks out challenges. She is currently taking three AP courses and a dual enrollment class, demonstrating her commitment to excellence in the classroom.

Her significant involvement in the APR community includes membership in the:

  • STEM Club
  • National Honor Society
  • National Chinese Honor Society
  • Dragon Council

As Mr. Davis noted, "Her ability to balance rigorous academics, leadership roles, and athletic commitments is a testament to her discipline, drive, and passion."

Athletic Success

Esther has been a part of the APR Varsity Volleyball program since her freshman year and currently serves as a team captain. She leads the team in aces and was named Team MVP her Junior year. Her strong play and outstanding leadership have been a driving force behind the team's impressive 7-0 start to the season. With her continued dedication, she is poised to earn further recognition and awards this year.

Community Service

Esther’s dedication extends beyond the school through her notable community service project: supporting a Prison Book Club program. She dedicated her time to preparing and carefully packaging books selected by incarcerated individuals. Her work actively promoted literacy and education, fostering hope and connection for people in difficult circumstances.

Final Endorsement

Athletic Director Pharoah Davis summarized Esther's impact best:

“I believe Esther truly embodies what it means to be a student-athlete. She has consistently shown great dedication to her sport while also managing an immense course load and numerous extracurriculars. She continues to demonstrate strong leadership skills that extend well beyond her playing career. Esther embodies what it means to be a Dragon—hardworking, committed, and inspiring to those around her.”

The MIAA congratulates Esther and the entire Academy of the Pacific Rim community on this great recognition.
