Posted: February 14, 2025

A nearly weeklong run of divisional state championships once again took over the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center, with individual winners and team champions crowned in five divisions.

Lexington 2025 Division 1 Indoor Track champion
Lexington is back on top in Division 1 for the first time in 13 years.

Division 1

Lexington secured a pair of first-place finishes on its way to a total of 84.87 points and the program's first divisional state championship since 2012.

A pair of freshmen led the way for the Minutewomen, as Jane Conrad won the 2-mile in 11 minutes, 18.71 seconds, and Amelia Whorton added gold in the mile (4:59.46). Lexington also won the 4x800 relay behind sophomore Callie Glenn, Whorton, and freshmen Cecilia Kvaal and Mackenzie Callahan (9:30.60).

Glenn took second place in the 2-mile behind Conrad (11:21.71) and junior Ashley Cuthbertson was second in the shot put (39 feet, 7 3/4 inches).

Natick High School junior Emmanuella Edozien had the other individual highlight, breaking the meet record in the 55-meter hurdles with her time of 7.96 seconds. The previous record had stood since 2013.

Edozien also won the long jump (18-8 3/4) and helped Natick to third place as a team (51), behind Bay State Conference rival Newton North High School in second (60.75). Natick's Chloe Elder won the 300 meters (40.25), while Newton North got seconds from Blake MacNeal in the long jump (18-6 3/4) as well as the 4x400 relay (4:07.77).

Division 2

Wellesley saved the best for last, teaming up to capture the 4x400 and 4x800 meter relays to extend its run of dominance in the division. The Raiders finished with 64 points to stand clear of runner-up Bishop Feehan High School (49) and third-place Sharon High School (38).

Senior Delaney Dyer and juniors Emma Tuxbury and Kayla Bohlin were part of both relay wins. The trio joined senior Ava O'Grady to take the 4x400 (4 minutes, 7.73 seconds), then ran the final three legs behind freshman Madeline Tuxbury to capture the 4x800 (9:37.61) and seal the team win.

Dyer also was second in the 1,000 meters (3:03.13) and Bohlin in the 600 (1:38.27). Senior Annie Comella added a second in the 55 meters (7.37) and a third in the long jump (17 feet, 2 inches) to spark the Raiders.

Sharon junior Nina Kyei-Aboagye was a double winner, setting the tone for the Eagles out of the gate by taking firsts in the 55-meter dash (7.09) and 300 (39.7). Sharon also won the 4x200 (1:47.75) as Kyei Aboagye anchored sophomore Imani Vaughn, freshman Linda Jenner and senior Callie Weader.

Bishop Feehan was led by a first place from senior Brooke Serak in the shot put (39-11 3/4).

Division 3

Billerica Memorial High School had little trouble securing its third consecutive divisional state championship. The Indians won only two events but used their superior depth to compile 75.5 points, well ahead of runner-up Milton High School (46).

Senior Nyrah Joseph was the lone individual winner for Billerica, taking the 55-meter hurdles in 8.35.

The 4x800 relay of sophomore Hartlie Siegal, freshmen Caitlyn Donahue and Kylie Donahue, and sophomore Gianna McGowan also took gold, finishing with a time of 10:03.35.

Joseph added third place in both the high jump (5-2) and long jump (17-9 ½) and the Indians got a pair of seconds from Kylie Donahue (mile, 5:04.77) and McGowan (2-mile, 11:27.52).

Milton got a host of second-place finishes – sophomore Annaliese Aguilar (hurdles, 8.5), senior Sadie Ruth (300, 1:39.92), freshman Grace Danielson (600, 3:00.82), and sophomore Ella Turner (high jump, 5-4), as well as a third in the 4x200 (1:45.85). That helped the Wildcats outlast third place Westwood High School (35), with Amherst Regional in fourth (31) and Melrose High School fifth (28).

Sophomore Lavender Kozaka of Oliver Ames High School and senior Megan Moran of Westfield High School were double-winners. Kozaka took the 55-meter dash (7:23) and long jump (18-3 ½), while Moran swept the mile (5:05.49) and 2-mile (11:27.08).

Division 4

Holliston High School repeated as divisional champion and took home the hardware for the third time in four seasons. But it wasn’t easy as the Panthers (69 points) needed every bit of their effort to hold off Pembroke High School (60) and the rest of the pack.

Senior Maggie Kuchman turned in a dominant performance in winning both the 1,000 meters (3:02.25) and mile (5:09.46). Fellow senior Kaitlyn Quealy took home the 300 victory (41.45).

Holliston also placed in all three relays, including a second in the 4x800 (10:12.39) and third in the 4x200 (1:49.02).

For Pembroke, Maya Bergamesca won the 55-meter hurdles (8.49) and was third in the long jump (17-4 ¾). The Titans also captured the 4x200 with Bergamesca joining freshman Amelia Nelson and seniors Caroline Minogue and Sadie Nugent (1:46.80).

Newburyport High School was third as a team (42), with Cardinal Spellman High School fourth (34.5). Whitinsville Christian School and Norton High School tied for fifth (23).
