Posted: June 1, 2024

Two teams repeated as champions from 2023, while a third returned to the top of the podium after a year's hiatus. There were double-winners and strong performances across the board as six schools were crowned at the end of the 2024 MIAA Girls Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Here is a quick look at the action:

Division 1

Behind a huge weekend from senior Sarah Dumas, Franklin HS finished with 74 points overall and finished a dozen points clear of co-runners-up Lowell HS and Westford Academy (62 points apiece) at Westfield State University. It was the first divisional state championship in program history for Franklin.

Dumas captured both the 100-meter hurdles (14.29 seconds) and 400-meter hurdles (1:03.16), and also was the winner in the pentathlon (3,346 points) to spark the Panthers. Other winners for Franklin included Lily Deforge in the discus (133 feet, 9 inches), Elizabeth Hopkins in the javelin (137-2)
