Mixed Gender Wrestling State Championships: Sidney Tildsley, Shawsheen Tech Make History

Posted: March 4, 2025

Sidney Tildsley was one of two wrestlers to cap his career with four consecutive All-State Championships, and at the same time helped Shawsheen Tech to the program’s first team All-State Championship during competition held Friday, February 28 and Saturday, March 1 at Methuen High School.

Tildsley took down Jason Ballou of Andover High School (fall, 3:22) to win the 138-pound weight class for the third straight year after prevailing at 132 as a freshman in 2022.

Along with younger brother James Tildsley, who later in the day made it back-to-back championships with his win at 150 pounds, they helped the Rams finish with 132.5 points. That was just enough to edge runner-up Central Catholic High School (130.5) for the team trophy.

In addition to with Sidney Tildsley, Chelmsford High School’s Thomas Brown made it four consecutive championships when he ended the weekend with his win at 285 pounds. Brown needed every bit of his match to score a 5-2 victory over Alex Bajoras of Saint John's Preparatory School.

Brown and Sidney Tildsley join a list of four-time state champions that also includes Joe Fendone of Catholic Memorial School (2001-04), Christian Monserret of Methuen (2011-14), and Hunter Adrian of Melrose High School (2017-20).

Shawsheen’s team win was aided by fifth-place finishes from Dante Giusti (120), Brayton Carbone (126), and Logan Holmes (165), as well as a sixth place from Jayden Perez (106).

Central Catholic nearly pulled off the team win, thanks to a pair of individual championships. Cole Glynn became a two-time champ when he won the 113-pound title with a 6-1 decision over Johnny Moraes of Melrose. At 190, Caden Chase took a 5-1 decision over Fletcher Rinke of Bridgewater-Raynham Regional.

Third-place Milford High School (105) was the only other school with two individual winners. Aidan Baum prevailed at 144 (10-4 decision over James Lally of Saint John’s Prep), and Michael Boulanger took gold at 157 (technical fall, 2:27 over Adrian Guzman of Ashland High School.

Peter Rincan of Billerica Memorial High School and Yandel Morales of Andover High School also were repeat champions from 2024. Rincan took a 13-3 major decision over Nick Desisto of Tewksbury Memorial High School at 120, and Morales earned an 11-1 major decision win over George McAteer of Xaverian Brothers High School at 132.
