Welcome to the new MIAA.net - an improved, modern web experience

Posted: July 16, 2024

If you are reading this News story ... congratulations! You have reached the new and improved MIAA.net, a modern version of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association website designed to better serve its member schools, staff, and the general public.

The MIAA is working with the web agency Gravity Works Design & Development to enhance our digital brand. Gravity Works' previous experience in working with multiple other state high school associations on website design and management has made for a seamless, professional and effective collaboration.

The first phase of rebuilding our web presence focused on rebuilding miaa.net, as well as msaa.net, which is slated to launch later this summer. We heavily focused on improving the user experience for visitors through streamlined navigation, refreshed content, and a modern, engaging web design. MIAA administrators have robust publication tools, set in an intuitive CMS platform, that allows us to highlight student stories and sporting events. User experience experts and front-end developer worked closely with the MIAA to place usability at the forefront, building a website and digital tools that works well for everyone - from parents of student-athletes to the coaches, officials, and athletic directors that make these athletic opportunities possible for students.

Some of the highlights of the new MIAA.net:

  • Search function: Type a few keywords into the box at the top right of the site, and quickly display a list of relevant pages or resource files
  • News and Events features: A key goal of the new website is to better inform constituents of what is relevant and important in the association; News and Events are searchable, and also display on relevant pages throughout the website
  • Reorganized site map and menus: Click through the Main menu options at the top of any page to find Landing Pages and submenus that should guide and direct the user to quickly find any information needed
    • About MIAA: Critical information about the association and for its members, including the MIAA Handbook, Rules Change Proposal, and a new Contact webform
    • Educational Athletics: Find information about the MIAA's Five Pillars - Coaches' Education, Community Service, Leadership, Sportsmanship, and Wellness - as well as topics such as Sports Medicine, and the NFHS Learning Center
    • Sport pages and Committees: Individual Sport pages display relevant information and history, and also a "callout" to respective Committee pages featuring Events news, resources, and agendas/minutes when available
    • Tournament Central: Here you can find links to Tournament Brackets and MIAA Power Rankings, as well as resource links and forms for MIAA Tournament administration
    • You Are ...: The MIAA is a membership-driven organization and serves a variety of stakeholders - Administrators, Coaches, Officials, Students, and Media; each has its own section with relevant information and content

The MIAA and Gravity Works plan to rebuild other components of our website in future phases, including a more integrated Institutional Registration system for schools, how we display data related to schools, teams, brackets, and more.
