Ludlow High School Student Receives MIAA Student-Athlete of the Month Award November 2023
Joseph Keroack – Ludlow High School
Nominated by Rebecca Gauvin, Teacher and Track Coach
His strong GPA, 4.4 on a 4.0 scale, and class rank of #1, are a testament to his hard work and dedication to his courses. Coach Gauvin reflected on Joseph as an athlete, “Joseph Keroack is among the most talented, dedicated, and hardworking athletes I've ever coached in my 25-year career. He's a true student of the sport, constantly seeking to understand its demands and how they'll benefit him in the long term. During practice, he meticulously performs auxiliary exercises, displaying precision and commitment. I believe he'll remain a valuable presence in the sport for years to come. His unwavering commitment to success led him to complete extensive summer training, resulting in significant achievements. Joseph Keroack shattered a 12-year-old record by running an impressive 15:42. He consistently ranks as one of our top two runners. Our team earned a spot in the Race of Champions at the Great American Cross-Country Festival in North Carolina and we defeated Amherst (cross country powerhouse) High School for the first time in over a decade. We also secured a shared victory at the Twilight meet (before going to our 6th runner), and we recently clinched the league title. We eagerly anticipate our upcoming competitions at WMASS and States, with Joseph playing an integral role in our successes and opportunities.”
Outside of school, Joseph is an active participant in the community. Joseph volunteers at the Ludlow Fire Department Open House, cleaning up the XC course, tending to the Baird Middle School Garden, participating in an XC meet to raise cancer awareness, joining in "Say 'Hello'" awareness week, and assisting at the Ludlow Athletics Hall of Fame ceremony.
