MIAA Gymnastics Committee Highlights

The following are highlights from the MIAA Gymnastics Committee meeting that took place October 2, 2024 at the MIAA Offices in Franklin. These highlights are not intended as a substitute for official meeting minutes, which will be posted if approved by the respective commitments at a future date.

• Election of Officers:
  • Kathy Ostberg – Chair
  • Steve Cudworth – Vice Chair
  • Ashley Paulsen - Secretary
• 2024-2025 Winter Tournament Format approved with the following modification:
  • An updated Rotation/Floor Plan was approved for the sectional tournament
• Sectionals are scheduled for February 22; States on March 1.
• 2024 Rule Change Proposals were voted
• Reviewed proposed 2025-2027 alignments.  No changes were discussed by committee members.
• Officials Topics
  • On June 18th Kathy participated in the NFHS Rules Interpretation meeting
  • A presentation with coaches and officials will take place on November 6 virtually to discusses new rule changes
  • Recruitment and training of new officials is underway
  • A motion to recommend an increase in official fees to the Game Officials Committee for tri-meets will be submitted
• Committee members were asked if they feel the need to meet more than two times per year.  Consensus is if needed, a virtual meeting could be scheduled in between.  Possibility of moving the April meeting to mid-March.
• It was announced that Tournament Director Amelia Braun will be stepping down from this position after the 2025 season. Keith and the committee members thanked her for her 10 years of service.
