The MIAA has approved a new Schedule Commitment process and deadline structure beginning with the 2024-2025 school year, , which was supported by a unanimous vote of the Board of Directors on December 11, 2024. (Please see MIAA Handbook Rule 34.6 for the approved language.)

Important Reminders
Please be sure to check the MIAA Sport Limitations Information Sheet for the maximum number of competitions allowed per week and per season in each sport.
In advance of the Schedule Commitment deadline, schools should review each sport's schedule and make any necessary corrections in Arbiter for the following:
- All MIAA opponents are valid using the correct school entry
- Any scrimmages should be indicated as such, by selecting “Scrimmage” in the Game Type drop-down box in Arbiter … mislabeling of scrimmages will cause errors on the total number of games on your committed schedules
- The “Cross Level” box should not be checked for any varsity game in Arbiter … only varsity vs. varsity match-ups are allowed
- Placeholder games must be entered on the schedule for regular-season contests, including tournaments, that are played before the cutoff date and for which an opponent has not been determined. The Opponent for such games must be listed as “TBA” for each of these games.
- Leagues/conferences/regions may hold end of the regular-season tournaments, approved by the Board of Directors, as part of their committed schedules.
- The championship game will be exempt from the maximum game limit number for each sport
- All games prior to the cutoff day WILL COUNT in the power rankings
- If a tournament is scheduled to run after the cutoff date, those games WILL NOT COUNT in the power rankings and these games must be completed prior to the start of the MIAA tournament
- Teams WILL NOT be penalized for including a placeholder TBA on the committed schedule for a contest in which they later don’t qualify
- The TBA placeholder game must be part of a tournament or other approved event
- Leagues/conferences/regions may hold end of the regular-season tournaments, approved by the Board of Directors, as part of their committed schedules.
Per Rule 34.1.2, up to two additional games are allowed against approved MIAA exclusion opponents (not applicable to football).
Schools on the exclusion list may schedule competitions against each other, but are not allowed to schedule more than the maximum number of games for that sport.
