Jake Attaway of Hudson HS: Student-Athlete of the Month for October 2024

Posted: December 12, 2024

Congratulations to Hudson High School senior Jake Attaway, who has been named the MIAA’s Student-Athlete of the month for the Month of October 2024. Jake was nominated by Hudson High School athletic director Jessica Winders for his overall prowess on the athletic fields and courts, success in the classroom, and overall standing as a great school citizen and community member.

In addition to Jake’s perfect attendance for his senior year, Jake has a cumulative GPA of 3.82 while taking three honors and two AP courses. His teachers describe him as “respectful, hard-working, and setting a great example for his classmates.” Outside of school, Jake has also participated in numerous community events, including helping out with the Hudson High School Booster Club and volunteering at the snack shack. Jake is also a mentor for the young student-athletes in Hudson as he volunteers at youth camps and is looked up to by the young players in the community. As Winders said, “ He is a quiet kid, a quiet leader, who mind his own business and leads by example.”

As an athlete, Jake has excelled in three sports while in high school. As Winders wrote in his nomination, “Jake has been an impact athlete since entering his 9th grade year at Hudson (2021-22). His immediate impact was felt during football as he was the starting quarterback, which is unheard of at HHS . . . He singlehandedly turned this program around. He has gone on to be a true competitor in basketball, baseball and now track & field (a move he made last spring to improve his quickness and strength for football).” Amazingly in his first year on the track, he was a league all-star, league champion as part of the 4x100m relay, and placed seventh at Division 5 states in javelin. As a basketball player, Jake was a 1st team all-star for basketball as well.

Jake has thrown for more than 10,000 passing yards and is a leader among touchdowns in Massachusetts State Football history. He capped his career by leading Hudson to a 21-14 victory over Fairhaven High School for the Division 6 State Championship on December 4 at Gillette Stadium.

The MIAA congratulates Jake Attaway and the entire Hudson High School community.
