Reading Memorial High School Student Receives MIAA Student-Athlete of the Month Award February 2024
Emily Goodhue – Reading Memorial High School
Nominated by Thomas Zaya, Athletic Director
Emily is a standout student-athlete at Reading Memorial High School and was nominated by Athletic Director Thomas Zaya. Described as a “ray of sunshine” at Reading Memorial High School, Emily has had a stellar career playing Volleyball, Basketball, and Softball. She is currently serving as the Softball Captain in the 2024 season. A true team player, Emily plays the game with great integrity, values hard work, and sportsmanship. She is also a great example and leader for the younger athletes in Reading and serves as a great peer leader. A member of the National Honor Society and the Best Buddies Program at RMHS, Emily serves as a “Rocket Ambassador”, reads the morning announcements at RMHS, is a Student Council Representative, and is a member of the Spanish Club and American Sign Language Club. She genuinely participates in many programs to make Reading Memorial High School a great place.
Mr. Zaya commented that Emily “puts others ahead of herself, tutors other students, and leads by example.” One of the first students to arrive each day at RMHS and the last to leave, Mr. Zaya said that he has not met many students like Emily in his thirty plus years in public education.
